Director of Label (Dag en Nacht)

This is the role
The Director of Label (Dag en Nacht) will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the studio's operations, including content development, audience growth, and revenue generation. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the podcasting landscape and a strong business acumen, that is able to strike the right balance between the necessities of the budget and the aspiration of developing truly inspiring audio formats. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing successful media projects and a vision for the future of podcasting.
Your main responsibilities in this role:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and execute the overall strategy for the podcast studio, aligning with Podimo’s global goals and vision.
- Ensure operations and the decision processes are aligned with global guidelines and executed at a high level across the D&N teams
- Partner with subscription team to ensure they are getting the value they need in the short term - through direct commissioning, and long term - through future successes
- Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for D&N, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Act as the face of the organization to creators and advertisers
Content Development:
- Guide the editorial team to ensure they are producing high-quality, engaging podcast content across various genres within the constraints of the budget
- Develop guidelines for creator participation, including the optimization of audience activation and sponsorships
- Ensure the content portfolio aligns with audience interests and market trends.
- Decision owner for content greenlights and renewals
- Own relationship with Podimo GM to ensure shows developed for Podimo are meeting the needs of the subscription business
Audience Development:
- Ensure audience targets are being met within the constraints of the budget, through innovative marketing and distribution strategies.
- Utilize data and analytics to understand audience behavior and preferences, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Foster community engagement and build a loyal listener base.
Revenue Generation:
- Own revenue targets and ensure the sales team is maximizing the monetization of the show audiences
- Take input from the sales team on challenges and execute against necessary editorial or audience development changes to meet sales goals.
- Ensure creators are playing their role in achieving optimal CPMs
- Own relationship with Podimo GM and ensure commissioning and production revenue targets are being met.
Operations
- Ensure operations teams develop efficient workflows and processes and forecasting are as rigorous as necessary for budget and planning.
Experience we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Media, Communications, Business, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in media, broadcasting, or digital content production, with a significant portion in podcasting.
- Proven track record of managing successful media projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of the podcasting industry, including content trends, audience behaviors, and monetization strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Passion for storytelling and a deep appreciation for the podcast medium.
- Fluency in Dutch and English is a requirement.
Naturally, being passionate and knowledgeable about podcasts, audio content, media, and entertainment is a big plus!
