This is the role
We are seeking a Team Lead with the experience of a Senior Engineer — someone who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for guiding people. This is a true hybrid role: 50% hands-on engineering (designing, coding, and delivering features) and 50% leadership (mentoring, developing talent, and ensuring team success).
In this role, you will work closely with engineers, engineering managers, and product owners across our Vilnius, Copenhagen, and Berlin hubs. Together, you’ll build and scale Podimo’s platform, driving growth and bringing even more listeners into our world of exclusive podcasts and audiobooks. As both a builder and a leader, you’ll shape our product while fostering a high-performing, supportive team culture.
Your main responsibilities in this role:
- Technical Ownership: Actively contribute to the team’s codebase and technical decisions while guiding architecture, quality, and scalability of solutions. Lead by example in upholding engineering standards and quality.
- Delivery Leadership: Own or co-own the roadmap and drive planning, execution, and timely delivery of initiatives in alignment with Podimo's strategic goals.
- People Development: Mentor and coach team members through regular 1:1s, performance feedback, and career development support, fostering a growth-oriented environment.
- Team Culture: Champion a culture of collaboration, feedback, psychological safety, and continuous improvement through team rituals and leading by example.
- Operational Excellence: Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, onboarding/offboarding, optimize workflows and resolve blockers to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as the team’s primary voice in cross-functional conversations, ensuring shared understanding of goals, scope, and trade-offs.
- Metrics & Impact: Monitor key performance indicators, delivery health, team performance, and quality signals to identify improvements and drive measurable impact.

Experience we’re looking for:
- Bring experience as a Senior Backend Engineer or Team Lead with a strong international background and a deep understanding of end-to-end engineering processes.
- Communicate effectively at all levels — from guiding engineers and developers to collaborating with senior management.
- Are proactive and innovative, able to spot the most important problems and tackle them head-on.
- Handle conflicts constructively, finding win-win solutions.
- Have solid experience working with teams in agile, sprint-based setups.
- Possess strong technical know-how in backend systems, with awareness of how backend services integrate with web and mobile platforms.
- Communicate fluently in English (Lithuanian is a plus, but not a requirement).
- And naturally, if you’re passionate about podcasts, audio, media, or entertainment — that’s a big plus!
